Shell Island has an amazing variety of local wildlife such as dolphins, loggerhead turtles green sea turtles ghost crabs and beach mice. There are also nine-banded armillos, alligators living in the island's lake, marsh rabbits, racoons, and many other animals.
It's worth the wait once you get there. It is simply breathtaking. It feels like you're swimming in a pool. This was our first time visiting the island and we didn't know what to expect. You can expect to stay there all day.

Panama City Beach lies just east of Destin on Hwy 98. It is the end of South Walton's beaches. These beaches are considered the cleanest and most beautiful in the nation. The St. Andrew Bay filters out much of the sediment and there is almost no river runoff.
They can be seen in the waters off our beaches, including South Walton Beach Miramar Beach, Inlet Beach or Inlet Beach. Between May and August, the females will be closer to the shoreline in search of mates. Although dolphins are friendly, touching them is prohibited.
